About the Project
Our objectives
SAFEGUARD aspires to:
Improve the effectiveness and efficiency of LEAs intelligence, operation, and investigation capabilities for the protection of public spaces, through the automated detection, identification, assessment, and correlation of information acquired from heterogeneous multimodal data streams
Develop an innovative prediction, prevention, operation, and investigation platform for the protection of public spaces utilising cutting-edge technologies based on AI
Build on the strong partnership between Greek and Bulgarian LEAs to share best practises, data, and conduct joint exercises, thereby enhancing overall competence in public safety
Deliver comprehensive training programs to enhance LEAs operational capabilities and situational awareness
The development of the SAFEGUARD solution will be governed by ethics and privacy by-design principles in full compliance with applicable data protection legislation and the Charter of Fundamental Rights.
Our main outcomes
The SAFEGUARD activities will result in:
Improving the protection of public spaces, such as malls, open crowded gathering areas and events, and non restricted areas of transport infrastructures
Deploying tools, systems and technologies for acquiring intelligence regarding terrorist attacks and supporting LEA operations in public spaces in an efficient and effective manner
Developing knowledge on the potential use of AI techniques and algorithms in the protection of public spaces
Validating the SAFEGUARD solution in a series of field tests and demonstrations based on bona-fide operational use cases with the active involvement of Greek and Bulgarian LEAs
Facilitating the uptake of the developed platform, tools, and technologies through the extensive training of the LEA personnel
